Garrison Green is the second of three properties to be developed on the site of the former Canadian Forces Base Calgary, acquired by Canada Lands Company in 1997. Together with Garrison Woods, the area was formerly the site of the Canadian Forces Base in Calgary. The 80-acre Property was developed as a compact, pedestrian-friendly urban community which is minutes to Downtown. With the benefits of modern living, the mature tree-lined boulevards and front-porch streetscapes hearken to a simpler friendlier era.

Garrison Green is also home to Peacekeepers Park - the site of an annual even which pays tribute to the men and women who serve in Canada' peacekeeping forces. The community also offers seniors and assisted living housing, as well as the Cypress Green affordable housing complex. This is thanks to a partnership between the city, province, CLC and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
